The kids and teens’ medal

Look at the medal for the kids and teens

Here’s the medal of the Nationale-Nederlanden Mini Marathon – Little Big Race, taking place on Saturday, September 23.

The kids and teens’ race is held at the same place where adult athletes set off the next day. Emilii Plater street – the heart of Warsaw – will see the youngest runners for the first time. What a fantastic opportunity to feel special and have a great time with peers!

The Mini Marathon comes in quite strict age categories – depending on birth dates, young participants will run different distances. The youngest age category – children up to three years old – can race with a guardian. Everyone gets a beautiful medal at the finish line, and special trophies will be awarded to the best in each category. The street will be closed to car traffic, and our future stars will be able to enjoy a unique marathon setting.

Lots of joy and fun plus some “serious” vibes – time measurement, judges, fans and the award of prizes… Will the Nationale-Nederlanden Mini Marathon be the beginning of your running passion?

At the Runners’ Town – attractions throughout the weekend

Racing is not everything, though. Apart from taking part in Saturday and Sunday runs, we invite whole families and fans to visit the Runners’ Town. On September 23 and 24, a Marathon Fan Zone will be created near the Palace of Culture – a mini-town with attractions for children and all fans. The special fun area will stretch between Marszałkowska and Emilii Plater streets.

In the town you will be able to:

– visit the attractions for children with animators, refreshments and chill zone,
– take part in games and activities with prizes,
– visit the our partners’ special zones, featuring specialist consultations, examinations for runners and expert talks.

A contest for the best costume

Dress up and get dressed!

Who will surprise us this time? On the routes of the 45th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon, Bridgestone Marathon Relay and Nice To Fit You Warsaw 10k, we will be looking out for everyone and everything unusual – unique shapes, colours and ways of moving. Of course, we are talking about masqueraders – people in costumes who – with their creativity and perseverance – set the bar higher and higher from one event to another. Your special transformations don’t always let you  achieve your personal best, but we all know that running is not just about being fast.

We appreciate your ingenuity, courage, the way you stand out from the crowd and the effort you put into covering the route in outfit very distant from running gear. That’s why we want to reward you once again!

Our “Przebierz się i ubierz się” contest (“Dress up and get dressed”) is already a tradition! We are really curious – who’s going to go over the top with their disguise on September 24?

The rules are simple:

  1. Finish the 45th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon, Bridgestone Marathon Relay or Nice To Fit You Warsaw 10k in disguise.
  2. Enter the competition in person – send us your photo from the course by October 2 at 23:59 to the following address: konkurs@maratonwarszawski.com.

IMPORTANT! The photo must be taken on the race day at the start, in the route, at the finish line or at the Runners’ Town and the bib number must be visible!

  1. Two people will win – one winner will be selected by the FMW Jury, the other will be selected by Internet users in a vote on Facebook. Voting will start on October 4 and last until 11:59 p.m, October 10.

Awards:

Both winners receive running shorts and a New Balance sports T-shirt.

The contest results will be announced on October 11 at 12:00 noon.

Fee change coming (10k)!

Marathon medal unveiled

The medal is the culmination of many weeks’ hard work. We believe it is both a reward for your efforts and a joyful souvenir, a symbol of personal victory. Here is the medal for the 45th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon – it will hang around your necks on September 24th.

The medal has the form of a symbolic ribbon, wrapping around Warsaw. The obverse shows the old and new architecture of the capital – the commemorative medal combines tradition and modernity. The city view also refers to the vicinity of the race start and finish, hence the skyscrapers. The Palace of Culture and Science is shown in the form of a walls close-up – the building facade can be seen at the “ribbon’s” bottom. The reverse bears the slogan 45 years of the Big Race and the event date. A space for engraving is also provided – for those who want to have their finish time written on the medal.

The medal’s co-designer and the sculptor of its main form is Krzysztof Pabiańczyk.
