Marathon medal unveiled

The medal is the culmination of many weeks’ hard work. We believe it is both a reward for your efforts and a joyful souvenir, a symbol of personal victory. Here is the medal for the 45th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon – it will hang around your necks on September 24th.

The medal has the form of a symbolic ribbon, wrapping around Warsaw. The obverse shows the old and new architecture of the capital – the commemorative medal combines tradition and modernity. The city view also refers to the vicinity of the race start and finish, hence the skyscrapers. The Palace of Culture and Science is shown in the form of a walls close-up – the building facade can be seen at the “ribbon’s” bottom. The reverse bears the slogan 45 years of the Big Race and the event date. A space for engraving is also provided – for those who want to have their finish time written on the medal.

The medal’s co-designer and the sculptor of its main form is Krzysztof Pabiańczyk.

Paula:

Simply Paula! I went on my first run training session in 2015 and carried on along that way! Since 2019 I’ve been part of the ASICS Frontrunner crew. Though recently it’s been mostly running around the trio of my kids, a training is always in my day planner. I don’t run for times, I make time for running – that’s my rule!

Bartek Piekarsky:

Bartek Piekarski – the author of “15 złotych zasad, jak postępować w życiu” (“15 golden rules of life practice”). Mentor of life habit change and mental coach. Actor. Personal development practitioner, who perceives it in every area of life. He started running in the summer of 2022, even though he used to literally hate it. Now he’s got the first marathon and a couple of shorter races under his belt. It’s high time for new goals, to aid self-development and becoming a better version of one’s self.

Artur – biegowywariat:

Hi! They call me „Biegowy Wariat” (“The Running Madman”), I’ve been running for over 9 years, and my first marathon was obviously done in Warsaw! I’ve done the World Marathon Majors. Running is my passion and my way of life. In my day job I work as customer advisor at Sklep Biegacza, doradca, besides managing my socials and the blog. I also coach runners and help them reach their dreams. On the day of the jubilee 45. Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon I am going to run the companion race – Nice to Fit You Warsaw 10k.

Angelika Gęca:

My name is Angelika, I’ve been running for 6 years, but it’s only been under a year that I’ve done rigorous training. Thanks to running I managed to shed 44 kilos after pregnancy. The Warsaw Marathon is my 42k debut after becoming a mum last year. My dream time is 3:59:59.

Tomasz Sobania:

A 25-year old extreme runner, with several quite unusual feats in his cv. He’s done an across-Poland south to north run (from Zakopane to Gdynia). He also ran from Poland to Rome and Barcelona, and this year he’s covered a distance of 3,600 kilometres from the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów to the Marathon in Greece, Each of those projects had a charity goal, and two of them were documented in a book. The next item in his planner – run across the States just like Forrest Gump! In the meantime, Tomasz gives lectures around Poland and trains in the track section of Piast Gliwice.

Sylwia Kućmierczyk:

Sylwia Kućmierczyk, a running enthusiast, pro athletics instructor and a healthy lifestyle lover. My running adventure goes back right to the childhood years. An injury in 2019 marked a halt in my pro athlete’s career, and I decided to study physiology and coaching principles in detail. That’s how my knowledge sharing passion was born – I took the nick of “Grażyna Biegania” and started a new life in social media, as running motivator and influencer. My mission is to motivate towards physical activity, building the endurance base and finding joy in each training session. I want to show the activity-seeking women that running is more than a sport – that it’s a hobby likely to improve their overall health, mood and self-esteem.

Aneta:

I’m Aneta and my running adventure started in 2014. I set off as a typical asphalt runner, but as soon as I tried mountain running – it won me over instantly 🙂 Mountains are where I feel best – deep breathing, marvellous sights, learning to challenge my weaknesses and move boundaries. Since 2022 I’ve been part of the ASICS FrontRunner team. I run for the pure joy of running. “A healthy spirit in a healthy body” is my natural everyday rule.

Thanks for being in the Big Race Crew!

MOYA brand supports the event

MOYA will take an active part in the organisation of the 45th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon. The popular chain of petrol stations, as the event’s supporting brand, will prepare a special relaxation zone at the finish area with delicious coffee and other drinks, and will also provide gifts to the starter packs.

A fixture for 45 years, the Warsaw Marathon is the largest and most popular running event in Poland. The Anwim company, the owner of the MOYA brand, is involved in activities supporting this prestigious competition. As part of the partnership, MOYA will prepare a special zone in the finish area. It will be a place for regeneration, where the runners and their loved ones will unwind over great coffee, which is available every day at Caffe MOYA. The youngest fans will get fruit juices and hot chocolate. Runners will also find a gift in the starter packs – an energy drink that will give them strength during their special race.

The 45th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon, attracting runners from all over Poland and from abroad, is an opportunity to promote physical activity and to support charities. These areas are in line with the values of Anwim, with their initiatives promoting sustainable lifestyle and environmental care.

The 45th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon is another event by the “Warsaw Marathon” Foundation and supported by MOYA. The brand was actively involved in the 17th Ekiden – Marathon of Relays, and the 17th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Half Marathon. Employees of Anwim, the owner of the MOYA chain, took part in each of these races as well. On September 24, the company’s staff will also take the marathon challenge.

DAF Trucks to support marathon logistics

Whether it is a debut or a PB-level effort, each marathon is a special experience for the runner. For the organisers it’s a huge challenge, also logistical one. In that respect, the 45th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon will be supported by DAF Trucks Polska again. The company, in cooperation with Paccar Financial, will provide a fleet of Dutch brand tractor units and semi-trailers, as the base for runners’ deposits.

Last year’s 44th Warsaw Marathon and companion runs were completed by over 7,000 runners. This year, letting the participants focus on the sports challenge, DAF Trucks Polska and Paccar Financial will provide 15 sets consisting of DAF tractor units and semi-trailers. Before the start of the competition, runners will be able to leave deposits there, and after the competition – collect them from volunteers. DAF Trucks Polska is providing such service for the Warsaw Marathon and accompanying runs for the third time.

In addition to the logistics facilities, DAF Trucks Polska and PACCAR Financial will also prepare a stand located next to the Kinoteka in the Palace of Culture, with lots of attractions both for runners and for truck fans, including the opportunity to see one of the latest DAF trucks up close.

Nationale-Nederlanden becomes the title sponsor of 17th Warsaw Half Marathon and 45th Marathon!

“Warsaw Marathon” Foundation operates the largest street races in Poland. The conference on its 20th anniversary was an opportunity to announce excellent news! In 2023, the most prestigious races in the Polish capital will take place as the 17th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Half Marathon and the 45th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon. Announcing the new title sponsor, the Nationale-Nederlanden brand, is another step in the development of the “Warsaw Marathon” Foundation.

“Warsaw Marathon” Foundation’s 20th Anniversary

In its 20 years of activity and continuous development, “Warsaw Marathon” has not slowed down even for a moment. In the past year, the Foundation has grown its portfolio, around the flagship events – the Warsaw Marathon and Half Marathon. New additions are the EKIDEN Relay Marathon and accompanying runs: New Balance 5k Run and Pekao S.A. Warsaw 10k.

We also helped manage the much appreciated Warsaw Running Triad races “Strive for Memory” (Constitution Day Run, Warsaw Uprising Run, and Independence Run). In 2022, these popular Warsaw runs were organised by the Foundation together with Active Warsaw after a two-year break!

The Warsaw Marathon Foundation was operating even during the pandemic. In 2020, the unique 42nd edition of the Warsaw Marathon was organised to maintain the highest sanitary standard. This event was then one of the few marathon races in the world.

The largest half-marathon in Poland will set off on March 26 under the brand of the 17th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Half Marathon. The start list already includes more than 8,000 names! The capital’s event organiser and Nationale-Nederlanden announce joining forces and strengthening of the Warsaw Marathon Foundation’s activities.

“It is delightful to find ourselves on a common path with someone who shares our values. Our partnership with Nationale-Nederlanden is evidence of their trust and recognition of our events’ importance. I find it particularly significant that at a time when the entire running world is recovering from the difficult period marked by the pandemic, we are taking another step forward. After 20 years of promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle through our foundation, I know that we have much more to say”, said Marek Tronina, President of the “Warsaw Marathon” Foundation, during the conference.

Perfect match

For 20 years, the Foundation has been a promoter of healthy lifestyles, preventive examinations and regular sports practice, and thus cares for the physical and mental health of Poles. The goals and priorities of the “Warsaw Marathon” Foundation are very close to those of Nationale-Nederlanden. Sport, and specifically running, is one of the pillars of health promotion that the new partner of the Foundation focuses on, alongside preventive examinations and financial security in the wake of unforeseen events. Among sports initiatives, it is worth mentioning one of the longest running sponsorships – in the 2015/2016 season, the insurer became the title sponsor of the largest cross-country running series in Poland – CITY TRAIL, which are aimed at both adults and children.

The new sponsor of the Warsaw Marathon supports the running industry both locally and globally. The NN Group, represented in Poland by Nationale-Nederlanden, also has a long history of supporting running and social initiatives. Globally, NN Group co-leads the professional NN Running Team. The team consists of the greatest stars of long-distance running. The brand not only engages in running campaigns externally, but also boasts an internal running group that regularly trains and competes.

“We share similar values and goals with the Warsaw Marathon Foundation – such as promoting physical activity as a way to take care of both physical and mental health. We would like to not only encourage Poles to incorporate daily physical activity, adopt healthier dietary habits, and undergo regular check-ups, but also provide them with the appropriate products and tools to do so. Participating in the Half Marathon and Warsaw Marathon events can certainly be one of these motivators,” says Andrzej Miron, Nationale-Nederlanden management board member, and a runner himself. “We aim to inspire Poles to think about their health in a long-term perspective and to simply inject self-care as a permanent part of their lifestyle. Because taking care of your health is a marathon, not a sprint. Thus, the slogan of our campaign is #długodystanZDROWI [#longdistanceHealthy], and as part of our commitment we will undertake a number of activities, including the creation of a special zone in the runner’s village, where people supporting marathoners will be able to perform basic check-ups and confirm their health status,” he added.

#Running Good – and together we run even better!

Both WMF and Nationale-Nederlanden have been long committed to supporting charitable causes. Not surprisingly, the new title sponsor decided to get involved in the #BiegamDobrze [#RunningGood] charity campaign – Poland’s largest running charity initiative. It allows runners to choose one of 9 charitable organizations at the Sign Up stage. They can set up their own fundraising campaign – a virtual piggy bank. Participants encourage their friends and larger communities to make donations towards their chosen cause, and the piggy bank is filled-up by common effort. After reaching the set minimum targets – they receive a starting package for the run along with a unique, orange race number. Nationale-Nederlanden has decided to honour the efforts of those involved in the #Running Good fundraisers and financially support the biggest collections.

“Social engagement is one of the key areas of our activity. By participating in this important initiative of the Warsaw Marathon Foundation, we aim to raise awareness of the importance of activity and prevention in everyday life. We also want to provide real help and active support to organisations that help many Poles on a daily basis to improve the life quality and support their health, both physical and mental. This mission is part of our social engagement strategy. Therefore, we decided to take it one step further and recognise the efforts of those who joined the #Running Good program and collected the largest amounts. As Nationale-Nederlanden, we will pay extra sums to the leading collections, which the runners will then be able to donate to the foundation of their choice. We believe that we can do more together,” explained Marta Pokutycka-Mądrala, spokeswoman and corporate communications director at Nationale-Nederlanden.

“The #BiegamDobrze campaign is an outstanding work of many good people. Over 7 years, participants have raised more than 7 million PLN, supporting several charities in their projects. I’m thrilled that the charitable part of our activity not only attracts an increasing number of runners, but also becomes an important motive for the collaborating brands. This year’s cooperation with Nationale-Nederlanden means the scale of support received by charitable organisations will be even greater. This is a prime example of cooperation between the third sector, business and our running participants. Running feels lighter when you run for a cause – this is the main headline of #RunningGood, and I am sure it will stay valid for many years to come”, says Magda Skrocka, communications director of the Warsaw Marathon Foundation.

Unique history year after year

The Warsaw Marathon is the annual celebration for runners. As one of the few marathons in the world, it has been held continuously since 1979! Each of the past editions have its own unique history. In the early 1980s the race was held under the watchful eye of the army and ZOMO, in the 1990s the first edition of the marathon appeared with the word ‘Warsaw’ in its name, and in 2020 the event was held in an unprecedented formula with the highest sanitary rigor. Every moment of the Marathon is unique, and for each runner the start is a great celebration and the culmination of a long journey. It will be the same at the 45th anniversary edition of the race. Join the runners who are making marathon history with us and experience your unique day in the capital.

Signing up for the run – charity path #RunningGood

There are two ways to sign up for the run – through the traditional path by paying the entry fee, or through the charity path – by setting up #RunningGood collection. You can register for the race through the form at registration.nnmaratonwarszawski.com. It is worth signing up as early as possible for at least two reasons. First – lower entry fee. Second – signing up for the race is the most effective factor motivating you to train. #RunningGood – for a good cause you run feeling lighter

As part of the charity campaign, each runner can choose one of the partner charities and support it through running. By choosing the charity path of registration, participants set up a virtual collection in #RunningGood system. By encouraging your friends to support your collection, you collectively raise funds to support the activities of the chosen charity. When the minimum amount is raised, runners receive a race bib as a gift from the organization.

As part of #RunningGood, we have already raised more than 7 million zł (PLN) for important social purposes! Become one of the heroes with orange race bibs – for a good cause you run feeling lighter!
