The 46th Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon will once again participate in the Abbott World Marathon Majors Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Championship as a qualifying event.
We would like to remind you that the „Warsaw Marathon” Foundation and Abbott World Marathon Majors Marathon Tours & Travel are collaborating within the Age Group World Rankings. This year’s marathon is once again a qualifying stage for the 7th edition of Abbott World Marathon Majors Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Championship for runners aged 40+.
The AbbottWMM MTT Age Group World Rankings comprise over 370 qualifying races in which athletes in nine separate age groups can compete in marathons across the world to earn a global ranking.
Dawna Stone, Abbott World Marathon Majors CEO said: “The AbbottWMM Marathon Tours & Travel Age Group World Rankings continue to grow and welcome new races into the qualifying process every year. The geographical spread of runners and races shows the appetite for high level competition across all ages and an invite to the World Championships is becoming a much sought-after goal.”
The athletes will compete in age group categories: 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+. The official website: www.Abbottwmm.com
How it works?
Athletes are ranked according to their single fastest time in a qualifying event. Every athlete will appear in the rankings. Top-ranked athletes in each age group at the end of the 2024 season will be invited to the 2025 AbbottWMM MTT Age Group World Championships within the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon.
Any athlete achieving the Qualifying Time for their age group will receive a notification that they have qualified for an invite to the 2025 AbbottWMM MTT Age Group World Championships. In order to receive an invitation, runners must be registered at AbbottWMM.com.
There will be a total of 2,500 places available for the 2025 World Championship. Qualifiers from the rankings will be determined at the beginning of 2025 when they will be asked to indicate their interest in entering the Championship.
In the unlikely event that an age group is oversubscribed, the runners with the fastest qualifying times in their age group will have first right of refusal along with qualified runners from the 2024 AbbottWMM Global Marathon events.
Full details of this registration process will be communicated in early 2025.
